Emily loved to climb around the inside of our small apartment. She was truly a genius when it came to making a clean escape. Every night she tried to escape her cage by using her two front teeth to pull up the metal bars that were barricading her. Once the bars were flipped over, she hopped around to her heart’s content. I remembered one night, she gave me a good scare when she escaped her cage and then hopped on my bed. She crawled on to my back with her sharp, fury white paws, and when I jumped, poor Emily flew off of my bed and slid across the floor.
One Sunday morning, I was on my computer playing “Minesweeper” and was listening to the quiet sounds made by nature. The birds were playing an ensemble on the tree tops while the crickets in the bushes were dancing to their song, making a sweet melody with their legs rubbing against each other. “The vocabulary test tomorrow will be too easy” I thought to myself. Sundays were the days when I blew up my ego, telling myself how awesome I did on Mr. Niemann’s vocabulary tests. As a result, I studied at the very last minute of the day.
I clicked on the boxes with great urgency. I made extra precautions that the box that I clicked on would not lead to my demise. As I clicked on one of the boxes the smiley face on top morphed into a look of exasperation. I’d made my decision and let go of my mouse then; as I released my hand from the mouse, I heard a large sound of pitter-patter inside the kitchen.
I jumped off of my seat and decided to investigate what was going on inside. I walked very carefully into the kitchen and peeked my head into the side of the door only discover that Emily was already on top of the kitchen counter. “Stupid rabbit, how the heck did she ever pull off that stunt?” I asked myself. I could not get near her because she might run and hurt herself. So I walked slowly back into my room and retrieved my camera. I crouched down and slowly moved toward where Emily was. She finally found a way to make her way towards the oven top. I swiftly emerged from my crouching position and took a quick shot. She then flew into my eyes as the flashed died off. “My Emily, the great Spider-Rabbit.”
